Year 1

All About Us

In Year One the topic focus was 'All About Us', focusing on the children themselves as they settled into Year One. In art they looked self-portraits and the outcome would be to paint a picture of themselves. They started with simply sketches, they discussed their features, used mirrors and talked about the positioning of body parts. They practiced and developed their sketches until they were ready to paint their final self-portrait .

Gardener's World

In Year 1 the topic focus has been 'Gardener's World'. During this topic the children have been exploring the theme of plants and growing through poetry, planting seeds, and observing plants as they grow.

The children have been making observational drawings of plants, fruits and vegetables throughout this topic.
