At Manor Field Infant School, we believe Music is an amazing platform for all children to learn more about different cultures, as well as an opportunity for them to express themselves. Being a small Infant School we are very lucky to have intimate assemblies that provide an opportunity for children to experience music collaboratively (e.g. Singing Assembly and listening to music). We encourage the STAR values (Success, Teamwork, Aspiration and Respect) to be intertwined within the Music curriculum; inspiring children to build confidence in performing, feel a sense of achievement and ultimately have a love for Music.
Every Thursday morning we have a whole school assembly where, all the year groups join together to sing collectively.
On Wednesday 2nd October as a whole school we walked to church to celebrate Harvest. At the service each year group performed a song that they had practiced in class. Year R performed a song called 'The Dingle Dangle Scarecrow'. Year 1 and 2 performed a song called 'Let's Harvest'.
Afro Samba Dance Group Visit
On Monday 16th December, an Afro Samba Band came to visit the school. The children were very lucky to watch and experience a different style of music culture.
Manor Field's Magical Christmas
At the end of the Autumn term all the year groups collaborated, to put on a Christmas performance. Year R performed a traditional Nativity, Year 1 performed a piece from 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' and Year 2 took us on a journey showing Christmas around the world. All year group performances included a few musical numbers, with Year 2's including songs in different languages.
Thursday 19th December
On the last day of term, the Infant and Junior School come together, alongside parents to sing Christmas songs and begin the festive holiday.
