Autumn Term
As our new year starts, we have been welcoming new Foundation Stage children into school and Bug Club. We have shared our favourite nursery rhymes and learnt a few new ones too. The children then used a selection of different crafts to recreate the rhymes as a display.
.
We have been using our outside areas to explore Autumn. Hunting down minibeasts and animals as well as looking at all the beautiful colours and how the tree lifecycles have moved since Summer.
The children then learnt how to weave to make place mats as well as used chalks to make relief pictures, searched for acorns to create leaf hedgehogs and finally chose Autumn coloured ribbons to make striped pumpkins.
.
During the last week of term, the children spent time discussing Harvest. What it means to us and to the local community. We thought about the farmers and how they produce the food for us to eat, and also what we can do for our community to help make sure that people have enough to eat at this time of year.
.
Over the last couple of weeks we have been celebrating Christmas. The children have been helping to make decorations and put our tree and nativity scene up. As well as decorating Bug Club, we have been making lots of lovely decorations for the children to take home including gnomes, baubles and wreaths. There was also lots of fun making and decorating yummy reindeer cupcakes. Over the 2 weeks, they also made gorgeous paper mache sweet dishes and decorated them with brightly coloured pompoms as Christmas gifts for their families at home.
