For their Topic Pumpkin Soup, Year 1 designed and made puppets to represent the characters in the story. They discussed what materials they could use and decided to use paper bags for the body of the animals. The teachers explained how to use different tools and demonstrated specific techniques. The children planned their puppets and what materials they wanted to use. Once they had made their puppets, they evaluated their designs, discussed what they liked and what they might want to change.
