Reading

Please read with your child at least 5 times per week and record the title, progress, and additional comments in their green reading record book. 

Your child's books will be changed regularly. The Foundation Stage team will discuss with your child which books they would like to read and choices will be be made accordingly. 

Please record any books from home you have read, these can be non-fiction, comics, bedtime stories.

Encourage your child to read at any opportunity - road signs, instruction booklets, recipes, menus, the back of the cereal box! All this practice will help them develop confidence and motivate them to read.

The expectation in Foundation Stage  is for your child to read 5x weekly.  Thank you.

Oxford Owl

Oxford Owl is a useful website that offers online books with comprehension activities for children.

To log in, click on  ‘My Class Login’ at the top right corner of the page and follow the link for parents. Select a book to read and answer the questions at the end by clicking on ‘Play Activity’ above the book.
