Geography

At Manor Field Infant School, we are keen to encourage a desire for discovery and questioning. Through Geography we work to develop children's awareness of the world around them. We showcase different cultures, environments, people and landscapes. Children are encouraged to investigate and ask questions about what they see.

It is built upon the following principles:

  • Geography is knowledge of places, people and natural and human resources.
  • Geography is using our growing knowledge to understand the interaction between physical and human processes and of the Earth's key physical and human environments.
  • Geography is knowing how landscapes and environments are formed.
  • Geography is using our fieldwork skills to explain how the Earth's features are shaped, interconnected and change over time.

Our Geography curriculum aims to inspire a curiosity and fascination about the world and the people who live in it. We encourage children to investigate and explore the local area and wider world around them, applying their knowledge, fieldwork skills, understanding of interconnections and processes to become inquisitive geographers!
