Phonics and High Frequency Words
You can watch the short videos on the main Year 1 page or these can also be found on Class Story on Class Dojo. The daily phonics sound will be uploaded onto Class Story each morning. On a Friday we recap all the sounds from the week.
For Maths, we would like you to try the daily Maths Home Learning Lessons and Activities on the White Rose Learning Hub.
Please start at Summer Term ‘Week 8’, complete one lesson and activity per day, and record your learning in your yellow books. The lessons for this week are:

Monday - Thoughts
Watch and listen to the story together. Create a grid just like the one below and write down your thoughts in each box. Try to use 'because' to explain your thoughts. Miss Thompson has put some examples in the boxes to help you. Upload a photo of your work onto Class Dojo.
Tuesday - Matching Animals
We would like you to draw pictures of the animals and the fruit in the story. Can you match the animal to the fruit it takes from Handa's basket? There are descriptions of the fruit below to help you. We would also like you to have a go at using the pictures to help you retell the story to your grown up! Upload a picture of your drawings onto Class Dojo
Wednesday - Vocabulary
Explore the descriptions of the fruit, eg ripe red mango.
Which have you eaten? Which is your favourite fruit?
Write a simple noun phrases (describing an object) to describe your favourite fruit
e.g.The crunchy apple.
Develop this further by writing pairs of adjectives with a comma,
eg The sweet, shiny pepper.
Make a game! Write descriptions of your favourite fruit and draw pictures. Can you guess the fruit by the description?
Thursday - Practice and Play
Can you plan a party? Write a list of all your friends and families names and a list of all the foods for the party. Talk about the questions below and write party invitations. Include what the party is for, the time, date and place. Remember to use capital letters for names and places.
There will be no learning set today due to the INSET day.
