Phonics and High Frequency Words
Please watch the youtube clips and short videos on the main Year 1 page.
There are some good quality phonics lessons that you may like to look at with your child. Each lesson will be uploaded every day at 10:30am.
For Maths, we would like you to try the daily Maths Home Learning Lessons and Activities on the White Rose Learning Hub.
Please start at Summer Term ‘Week 6’, complete one lesson and activity per day, and record your learning in your yellow books. The lessons for this week are:

The book we are focussing on this week is "This Is How We Do it" by Matt Lamothe. You can click on the link below to read the book.
Monday - Research the Countries
Read the book together and find the countries Japan, Iran, Russia, Peru, Uganda, Italy and India either in an atlas, on a globe or Google Maps. Think about the headings in the book, such as "This is where I live," "This is who I live with," "This is what I eat for breakfast," etc. Can you choose 3 headings and change the information so that it is about yourself. Upload a video talking about yourself onto Class Dojo.
Miss Thompson's Example:
"I usually eat toast or porridge for breakfast, but when it is the weekend, I sometimes like to treat myself to pancakes!"
"I get to school by car. I have to go on the motorway to get to school so it can sometimes take a long time if there is traffic."
"I like to relax in the evenings by cooking something yummy for dinner and then sitting on the sofa to watch a good TV programme!"
Tuesday - Noun Phrases
We would like you to recap your knowledge of noun phrases (describing an object).
Read the children's descriptions of their clothes. The item of clothing is the noun and the adjective describes the noun - there are examples above. Draw your favourite clothes and write noun phrases to describe them. Upload a photo of your work onto Class Dojo.
Wednesday - Character Profile
Choose one child from the book and read all of the information about them. Can you remember and retell things about that child when you have finished reading about them? Are there any questions you would like to ask them?
Create a character profile about your chosen child and their school, family and food. Use the template above to help you and include one question you would like to ask them. Upload a photo of your work onto Class Dojo.
Thursday - List Writing
We would like you to recap your knowledge of writing lists and using commas. Can you write down all of your favourite breakfast foods, using commas, in a list. Can you do the same again and write a list of all your favourite things to have fore dinner. Please upload a photo of your work onto Class Dojo.
Remember to use a comma when you are writing a list, but not before the word 'and'.
Miss Peckett's Example:
"I like to have fruit, yoghurt, toast and orange juice for breakfast."
"My favourite dinners are curry, fajitas, cottage pie and lasagne."
Friday - Own Version
We would like you to write your own version of the book about yourselves. Please include photos and/or drawings. Use these headings to help you:
"This is me" "This is where I live"
"This is what I wear" "This is how I learn"
"This is how I play" "This is what I do to help"
"This is what I eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner"
