This week, we would like you to practice your measuring skills by finding the length and height of objects in your homes. There are 2 worksheets below we would like you to complete in your yellow books.

The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffler

Have a look at the front cover of the story 'Snail and the Whale'.  What do you think the story will be about?  Why?  What do you think the snail and the whale are saying to each other?  Why?  Does this remind of you another story you have read?  Can you write a question that you would like to ask the snail or the whale.  You might ask the whale 'Where are you going?'  'How will we get there?'  You might ask the snail 'Why do you want to go?'  What will you take with you?'  Please write your answers in your yellow book.

Ideas for factfiles

Please create a fact file of an aquatic animal, this could be about a whale, a shark or an octopus.  Try to write as many facts as you can and draw a picture.  Please write about more than one aquatic animal if you would like to.

Once you have listened to or read the story 'Snail and the Whale', what is your favourite part of the story?  Why is this your favourite part?

Start your sentence with - My favourite part of the story is ..................................  because .........

Remember to use a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop for every sentence.

My favourite part of the story is when the children are running out of the classroom because it makes me think about all the children in Butterfly class. 

Miss Thompson has written:

My favourite part of the story is when the whale and snail travel to golden sands because I like sitting on the beach and swimming in the warm sea.
