Once upon a time...

To celebrate our learning, we created Ugly Duckling masks at home with our families. We then worked in small groups to perform the song '5 Little Ducks'. We have uploaded the video to Class Dojo and Tapestry.
Updates week beginning 17.5.21
This week in Maths we have been exploring the concept of halving practically. To find half of a number we have to split the two amount into equal groups, this is linked to doubling.
In Literacy we have based our reading and writing opportunities based upon the story 'The Emperors New Clothes and The Smartest Giant in Town. We read the stories and created a role on the wall to describe the physical features of the characters and how they may feel.
Updates week beginning 7.5.21
This week in Maths we have been exploring the concept of doubling practically. To get a double of a number, we add the same number to itself. For example, double of 2 is 2 + 2 = 4.
In Literacy we have based our reading and writing opportunities based upon the story 'The Elves and the Shoemaker'. The FS classes had a visit from the Elf and the Shoemaker who needed help to find a missing elf. The children created wanted posters to help find 'Ed the missing elf'

This week in Maths we have been using the ten frames to represent different numbers up to 20.We then found the numeral on the number line and began to see patterns and links in our numbers e.g. 12 can be used using ten and two counters.
